Notes for Submissions

Choosing a river level can be a pretty subjective business, as one paddlers exciting spate run can be another paddlers medium mellow cruise down the river. Please read the guidelines below before submitting a river level. Please note these are not set in stone if you have any suggestions as to ways to calibrate or improve the system please let us know at levels@rainchasers.com .

River

This can be an individual river name or even or paddling area e.g Snowdonia, South Lakes, if using an area it is worth adding an example river name in the description.

Level

Dry- The river cannot be paddled
Scrape-Mostly impassable for any boats .
Low- Shallow water with some impassable sections.
Medium- Moderate water with occasional exposed rocks.
High- High water fun.
Spate- Very high water caution needed, low bridges, trees and few eddies.

Trend

The trend indicates the movment up or down of the river level, if you are unsure it is better to leave the level as 'no movement'.

Description

This area allows you to go into more detail regarding the state of the river, please try to use indicators that other paddlers can recognise e.g the river is at 0.3 on the gauge by the road bridge. or the rock under backbarrow bridge is now showing. This will allow frequent river users to put the river level into the context of their own paddling.

Please try not to use symbols such as !&* in the submissions as this can lead to problems for WAP users, we are looking into ways to validate submissions to prevent this form being a problem.
