Friday Forecast 5th March
Written by ned

Another cold and dry weekend. The rivers are super low and no rain is forecast for the lakes. There is some decent surf forecast but the best of the conditions are up high and frozen.

The snow will have consolidated again after significant freeze/thaw this week. Its been milder so aim high and there should be good climbing, walking and skiing on ice and neve.

Friday Forecast 26th Feb

The rivers are really low still but the becks with low altitude catcments started flowing today. There is more precipitation forecast but it will fall as snow again on the higher ground.  There is good surf forecast for the North East. Its worth deviating from kayaking again as the action is on the hills at the mo...

The fresh snow is loose and sitting on the harder pack underneath. Avalanches on steeper snow fields and gullies are a significant risk. As most of us are unused to assessing these risks, maybe its worth checking out these videos or this online training course?

Check out the issue this guy and his dog had... Scary thing it actually looks quite like the the Scottish hills or even the Lakes at the mo!

there is now a display that takes the last few hours satelite imagery on the top left of the site. I hope it gives a good quick impression of what the weather is doing. Click through to get better resolution and rainfall radar imagery at Sat24.

The rivers are bone dry. Lower than usual summer levels, So the theme here is still alternative winter sports. Check this for pushing the limits of what's possible in the lakes.
