sm_mashiter1d Clap hands and rejoice - a new blog from a fresh group of kayak athletes comes up with the antidote to big name kayak blogs. Check out the 'Squamish Canoe Club' blog. Obviously its all highly irresponsible and totally reprehensible. I shall be writing to complain to the BBC. I wish it to be known that I took no pleasure at all from all that silly behaviour (but I did need to check it all thouroghly for research purposes).

The NRPC blog has also got a new lease of life.

sink_or_skim_copy England's skimming stone championship is back  - this saturday (4th July) on Coniston! 76metres won last years event! It was a good giggle in a nice atmosphere last year. Basically a drink by the lake and then chuck some stones in! Its organised by the South Cumbria Rivers Trust who are a charity working for clean and environmentally diverse rivers.

The rivers are low. There is a weak front due in tonight that may produce some heavy localised rain, but its unlikely to get stuff going.

The sea is dead flat calm, but the tides are pretty high so that is the best bet for whitewater action. The Tryweryn is open from the Chipper down. Teeside is due to be open for a while longer.

Our Blogs have resumed their location on the left menu. We are really pleased to welcome Jonny Briggs on board as a regular contributor. Poke has sent in another guest blog entry. Maud has had a big moment and rookie is back in business! As ever anyone interested in contributing on a regular, or occasional basis is really welcome.

15223299_100Elsewhere on the tinterweb, this video of Upper Death came through recently. Now that is the real gnar!

Also this POV shoot of Yule creek shows just how busy it is piloting down some of these super steep creeks. Check out the blog entry to break it down in your own time.

Also I stumbled into this online portfolio of Skip Brown. Well worth taking some time over this one.

The results of the rainchasers 2009 short film comp, in collaboration with pyranha and Windermere Canoe and Kayak are;

A big shout to all the other contestants, the sponsors and all those who showed an interest or talked about it in the pub! Ando picked up his prize of a pyranha sponsorship deal from the marketing manager of pyranha at last nights film evening at Brockhole. We wish him and Seb well in Team Pyranha. Danny, Tim and Dave will collect their prizes from WCK.

I will post some of the rationale behind these decisions in the near future.

Feel free to discuss the decisions. All films are now released from any obligations from us.
