Well stuff here has been up this week so there is some residual runoff giving low but passable levels on the larger rivers. Wheres the water is reading water north of the border. The forecast is for showers to continue over noght and drift off eastwards, clearing out by midday. Another mild front only arrives on Sunday evening so the best of the water wil be on Saturday.
The surf forecast is very promising. A big (11ft) 2 stars for the North East on Sunday with better smaller stuff following on Sunday (3 stars). Tides are high.
Have a good one... |

Lars Holbeck has died after illness.
One of the major pioneers of modern style creek boating, Many of his runs in the American West and further afield are still well worthy of big respect decades later. His Californian guidebook is still the bible for the area. There was a good biopic on him in Kayak Session recently. |

Were going to extend the deadline for our film competition to April 30th . With some reluctance we've conceeded that the really dry conditions have left it difficult for folk to get the kind of footage they were looking for. Both Pyranha and WCK are happy with this new date and all the other rules stand. We will not be extending again, even if there is a full on drought!
Apologies if you have been disadvataged by aiming for the previous deadline, but maybe go for two entries and double your chances?
Good luck, and I would really encourage folk to get an entry together, its a great set of prizes. |

Well stop what your doing and rejoice - a new kayak world freefall record as been set. News has spread not by the tradtional method of telling each other, or even wrting it on the tinterweb, but by press release. 127ft, 103ft, 84ft, - whatever. Its all big and its all brave, skillful and it all requires the overcoming of fear and spinal injury - but i just dont care, its not anything to do with what I do or aspire to. Also, in a kind of parralel world of stuff I cannot comprehend I stumbled across this. Hopefully thats cleared that up then - all is now clear and we can rest at ease.
This however this cheered me up no end! I am now a believer, the search for the golden stroke comes from within ;-).

The first entries are in and will be online soon. Remember soemone is going to win it and its a film comp not a paddling comp, so anyone with a camera a computer and an imagination has a decent chance!!!

Steve Rogers - Kayak film maker and professional adventure photographer
Dave Kwant - Kayak film maker and expedition boater
