Millerground beck

Rob Beale has sent in these pictures of the beck at Millerground (near Windermere), a first descent?? He went from the main road down to the lake on entertaining G4 rock slides. Good effort. You can upload any pictures you want to share in the media gallery. Also if you have or can borrow a video camera you could win a new Drakkar playboat, the K44S, or vouchers for kit from Windermere Canoe and Kayak in the video short contest.

Its not necessarily the wildest or best paddling that will win, but the best film. Make us laugh, inform us, entertain us, whatever really.

Never say Nevis again We have been asked by Steve Rogers of Breadandbutter to host two of his films Never Say Nevis Again' and Last Drop those that know Steves work know that he puts alot of effort into telling the story well as well as having a keen eye for the cinematics.

You can see both of these movies in the media gallery, be warned they are big files 80 and 60mb, and are not streaming. The best method for viewing is to use Internet explorer and then right click the download movie button this will then allow you to save the movie to your PC. It is possible to watch direct from the gallery but you will have to wait for the full 80mb to load before viewing.

Met office Website Changes

Was just looking at rain for an afternoon paddle and it seems that there is a new layout at the Met office rainfall radar site. The old link isn't working, and I found this which combines radar shots and forecasting for rain. It also allows you to zoom in on certain areas (see map in bottom left). Its a bit more fiddly to use but looks like you can get more and better info of one page. Click here.

I've left the old links up on the 'weather' page but have added a new link to this new page. Ive also just tried the new upload media system (which is much easier) and put up some pics of ingleton falls

We are in the process of changing our movie and photo section to the more user friendly and powerful Gallery2 all photos have now been moved across and most of the smaller movies, hopefully by the end of the weekend the move will be complete.

By logging into your rainchasers account you should have the ability to create and upload movies and photos much easier than before, the ideal format for movies is quicktime streaming as the gallery will automatically create a thumbnail but you can also upload in WMV,FLV,MOV,AVI formats.

Once the gallery is up and running and we are sure it is stable we will be launching our big competition first prize a brand new Drakkar K44s.

The new galler can be found on the left menu as Media Gallery ( beta)

Please let us know if you discover any problems.
