Happy New Year !!
Whilst it may not have been a white
Christmas it certainly was a wild one which has meant plenty of time on
the water for those lucky enough to escape.
Thanks to everyone
involved in getting Rainchasers up and running during 2006, it has been
a great year from our point of view. The webcams and river levels are
proving very popular for those paddling in the Lakes, and the site used over 28gb of bandwidth in December which is alot of
visits.
We have a few plans for 2007 including more kit reviews we have a Neck Crux on test at the moment which is looking like a nice creek boat for the smaller paddler, and also an Astral Aquavest 300 buoyancy aid review nearly ready to go. Hopefully the Kentcam is going to get an upgrade which will allow a closer view of the indicator rock. The site is also due a bit of a spring cleaning we are working on a more streamlined version of the river levels pages as well as an overall site redesign that wont be as radical as the last attempt but will hopefully be a bit more pleasing on the eye.
Finally dont forget if you got a new video or stills camera for Christmas, why not put it to good use and create a short film to enter into our movie competition. For 2 minutes worth of entertainment you could win yourself a £700 playboat.
Anyway all the best for the New Year

Okay Okay so its not Friday, Neds internet connection is down again so its up to me to play Michael Fish ( for the youngsters he was a weather man )
Well its looking like you are going to be able to stock up some brownie points over the next few days as the weather is looking very dry and settled at least until Wednesday, the fog should start shifting in the South tomorrow. So no excuses do the family thing and have another mince pie.
The tides are not looking good for the Falls of Lora or Arnside and unless you are in Donegal(4-5ft Clean) or the Hebrides(4ft Clean) the surf is looking pretty flat.
So with that joyous news Bahhumbug. I wish you all a merry Christmas.

Its looking wet. Scottish levels are up but the rain has cleared now so will dropping to sensible levels. There is a band of rain sat over the lakes at the minute and stuff is still high. The Lake fed rivers have risen again overnight and are in flood, the becks are paddleable now but will obviously drop as soon as it stops. The forecast is for this band of rain to start slowly moving south before clearing on saturday afternoon. The west of cumbria and the far north west of scotland may also get light rain on saturday. Sunday is dry, but another (weaker) front is predicted for Monday!
So it looks like Wales will get the rain tomorrow and it will start in the south west tomorrow afternoon. The lakes and scotland are both extremely wet and even with no more rain there will be plenty to do.
Tides are low and there will be rough surf on Atlantic coasts. Enjoy.
