We're proud to announce that we will be running the 2nd Kayak film night in Shap Village Hall on Saturday 3rd of November. The full line up of films is being confirmed, but its looking like a really good line up again. World and UK premieres, expeditions, white water and some amazing sea kayaking on the bill, as well as some local content. We will be getting the full details out later in the week.

The style of the evening will be similar to last years successful event. £6 on the door - (any profits after costs go  to develop rainchasers river gauge and webcam projects in the region). It will be films first up, then then a chance to socialise. B.Y.O booze. Most people dossed in cars/vans last year, but there is some camping in the village.

Hope to see you there.

Cheers, ned.

The bore is still working on a high spring tide, roughly about 1hr and half before high tide at Arnside. Times are available from the back of the Westmorland Gazzette. Josh and I had a visit from her majesty’s coastguard last Thursday night as we got off. Some concerned passers by had rung them after seeing the torches and hearing our whoops of joy (yells)! So next time they asked if we could inform liverpool coastguard beforhand day or night , you can ring them on

Friday Forecast 28th Sep

Sorry its later than usual but its been a busy day! The rivers are low, but the Leven is still on a low, but passable, flow after rain earlier in the week. No significant rain is forecast.

The surf forecast is poor - so the event in the North East is canceled.

Tides are high, so head for the tide races or lake fed rivers if you want to find moving water.

I just got round to updating the blog.

Blog formatting and some porn

The rainchasing blog formatting issue is now resolved, and it should be legible! Please let me know if it looks wrong on your screen. The river levels issue turned out to be bigger than I first thought, so for now just use the 'cumbria' section for all contributions and it will work.

Guess what? - Dropping 107 feet off a waterfall hurts (video of Ed lucero's run). Now we have to have a debate whether swimming after being blown out counts as a descent. It maybe simplistic, but I think starting at the top, and ending at the bottom, pretty much covers it. I reckon that the first one off is doing the hard work whether they swim or not. The second down always has the advantage of learning from the first.

If you haven't come across these local boaters blogs then do. Liam Kirkham and Dave Tinnion are both putting themselves up there. Just a reminder that the rainchasing blog is open, and anyone can contribute (you need to be logged in) and were always looking for articles are comments.

Wilderness, scenery, class 4 and your whole world in a kayak. More from the range life.
