Well it looks like the drought might break, especially for western Scotland where there may be a decent weekends boating. Its raining there now and more is due on Saturday night. Some rain will get further south and there is lighter rain forecast for the lakes tonight and patchy light rain thereafter.
UPDATE; nothing budged here today but tonights rain is due to be heavier than first forecast so just maybe there will be a splash in the morning?
Surf is big on Northern atlantic coasts and increasing further south. 3 foot on the East forecast for the weekend.
Tides are also very high, so all the usual tidal stuff should be working.
Enjoy.

This is good. Now lets stop talking about access and go boating, that will help. As would some rain!
Also the poster for Shap is done. High res here if you want to print it off and stick it up somewhere, which would be good, as the marketing department has used up its massive budget (clue - its a very round figure). Cheers.

'Kayaking is not a crime, or at least it shouldn't be. 2697 people have now signed the petition supporting a change in the law in Wales to move in line with Scotland top allow river access. However that is a lot less than the number of paddlers around not mention the sympathetic wider public. there is a realistic chance that this could happen, but only if we can show not only that it should happen but that there is enough reason for the politicians to actually act.
Scotland first, then wales? England next??
Don't moan about access if you have cant even be arsed to spend about 30 seconds signing it! Send the link round your mates and forward to 'all staff' at work! These guys at the WCA are making an effort and deserve support.
Website here. Petition here

Rivers are low and the only rain forecast is a light band coming through the far North West of Scotland. So no joy there unless you can get way up north.
No joy on the surf or tides front either :-(!
However the Washburn is releasing on Sunday (for the last time this year), and the Tryweryn is open all weekend. UnfortunatelyTeeside is on split times, with a morning session and and evening session.

We're proud to announce that we will be running the 2nd Kayak film night in Shap Village Hall on Saturday 3rd of November. The full line up of films is being confirmed, but its looking like a really good line up again. World and UK premieres, expeditions, white water and some amazing sea kayaking on the bill, as well as some local content. We will be getting the full details out later in the week.
The style of the evening will be similar to last years successful event. £6 on the door - (any profits after costs go to develop rainchasers river gauge and webcam projects in the region). It will be films first up, then then a chance to socialise. B.Y.O booze. Most people dossed in cars/vans last year, but there is some camping in the village.
Hope to see you there.
Cheers, ned.
