Sadly the data feed we have been receiving from the EA is ceasing as of today. Hopefully this is only a short term set back, but I cannot be confident of this at present. The reasons behind this change are out of the control of any of the parties who have supported it so far. Thanks are due again to Cumbrian EA, John Cresswell, Cumbria Canoeists and particularly Jo Ratcliffe.
I remain convinced that accessing the real time data that the EA have, in a format designed for paddlers, is fundamental to moving the sport forward in the UK. Perhaps we should all be shouting that from the rooftops ...
The technical guts of it will remain in place and are ready for any future data stream. On a positive note, we are expecting a replacement kent cam soon.
The ravenglass Seaquest ins on again on April 17th. A Seaquest is "like a Trailquest but in kayaks and canoes, in a (usually!) sheltered estuary in which you (solo, pairs or groups) navigate to as many “controls” as you can returning to start point within 3 hours. Navigation is easy. Suitable for paddlers of Sea Kayaks, tourers and Canadians."

The rivers are up today, and for the first time in months some kit has been getting wet! Scattered showers are dying away though and nothing substantail is due till after the weekend. The larger rivers are running well but the Leven has only picked itself back up and is risen to the height of usual 'low'!
Surf forecast is also poor on the north East but the SW looks better. Tides are low.
Also, our 2010 FILM COMPETTION is a 'go'! Details to follow shortly but expect similar great prizes, a familiar format and a deadline in September.
In public service broadcating mode here - Tony Beaty from capita would just like to point out the following about Bouthey bridge; "The upstream part of the arch was severely damaged with the subsequent danger of falling masonry. We are currently getting warning signs made to hang from the structure warning river users of the danger, these should be in place within the next week or so."
Capita would like to discourage passage under the bridge, but I am sure that you can make sensible analysis of the risk. It is though gratifying that river users have been considered in this matter.
Two bands of rain will hit Wales and Northern England over the next 24 hours an dteh rivers are already moving again in Scotland. Wales looks the best bet but there may be enough here. Levels are still very low so it will take a bit to get things going.
