Just a quick reminder to let you know that the photo competition ends on the 30th April, the flat water kayak section is looking kind of bare so if you have some shots in your library of lake or canal paddling dig them out and you could win yourself a head torch or lightstick.

Paddling Kit Theft

Gavin over at Brite Water Uk has sent us some news of a break in at his shop over the weekend. Alot of kit was taken including a drakkar wheelboy, drago rossi squashtail, blisstick mac 1 and lots of buoyancy aids and cags, quite a lot of shockwave clothing was also taken.

It sounds like this was a targetted attack, most of the boats are not run of the mill so if you hear of anything being offered please contact Gavin at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or ring the police directly.

Gavin and his team have been very supportive of the Lakes paddling community so please keep your eyes and ears open for any of this kit.

So the skiiing season is winding up, and its likely to rain less here,  so we should turn our attention to using all that lovely meltwater elsewhere. We've been sniffing around to see how much snow there is in the northern hemisphere...

Fishing Season Follow up

Wouldnt it be great if we did have another month and the Anglers wanted to serve us cold beers by the riverside.

Anyway on a serious note it is the start of the fishing season today and the only thing the Anglers will serve up on the Kent is a torrent of abuse to any paddlers getting in their way. So be sensitive in your choice of rivers to paddle.

We are very limited in choice but many of the local becks that are not fished could well be up and there are some rivers out there with rights of navigation. So check your guidebooks and local access agreements, check your conscience and personal ideologys and have a good day :)

Rainchasers will continue to provide river levels regardless of access rights, in doing so we do so purely as a guide to river levels and it does not imply a right to paddle on any of the rivers submitted.
