Seaquest is on again next weekend at Ravenglass. Sounds like a good challenge to dash around the Estuary while the tide pours in. Details are here, but get in touch with the contact given if you fancy it. Any river boaters fancy their chances (or something to do)?

Friday Forecast 1st May
Written by ned

There has been a bit of rain around and the rivers have nudged up to a 'very low' level!! There is a bit more rain forecast. A short sharp band is due to come through the Northern UK on Friday afternoon. This will be followed by a lighter band on Saturday night/Sunday and the forecast of scattered showers on Monday. Whether this wil be enough to get anything moving remains to be seen, Scotland looks like the best bet.

The tides are medium and the surf forecast for the North East poor. The Wasburn is scheduled to release on Sunday but the Tryweryn is closed.

Have a good one...

Friday Forecast 24th Apr

There is a front over in the west but its gonna fail to get here. The North West of Scotland of Scotland ids the only exception and it will catch some water overnight. Dog low levels everywhere will mean that that is the only silver lining on tose particular clouds.

The surf forecast is poor but the tides are pretty high, though not enough for Arnside to be working.

The Tyrweryn is closed, Teeside wont comminiccate with me, or anyone else, about what is happening there, and I've just sent a mail to see what the situation is with the Washburn. I will put fixing the 'Times Ticker' on the 'whats up?' page on the 'to do' list :-)

Enjoy the landsports...

comp_copy.jpgWe have one week to go folks, 4 entries in, 2 'in the post' and a sponsorship deal and £150 quid to give away.

Some of our judges have done a bit of filming in the past. Before his globetrotting Fat Cat Ali Marshall made this little video called 'Caffeine and Commitment', looking back now you can see the drive that took him on the missions that followed.

Dave Kwant is currently producing a kayaking skills film, but is perhaps best known for the film '7 weeks in Tibet'

Steve Rogers now classic 'Never say Nevis Again' can be viewed, by the patient, here.

Leo Houlding has done a bit in his time - a bit of allsorts (including extreme puddle splashing) and , a bit of slackline, a bit of BASE and is now filling his time making TV.

CE access statement
Written by ned
Saturday, 18 April 2009 09:10

Canoe England have put up their new access position statement here. Its a very welcome move and one that many active boaters have been arguing for a long time. The previous position of seeking voluntary agreements was well intentioned, but futile. The amount of time it was pursued certainly now means that no-one can argue that it hasnt been tried!

Hopefully now we can get into a climate when the sterile access debate can be shelved, and all parties can just busy themselves creating the best possible reality on the ground ( or water :-)! ).
