The milanese fashion houses are trembling with the news that rainchasers has gone into the world of haute cauture.
Basically its our attempt to get the funding of the site to be sound. We made enough out of shap to go for this year but what we spend on the website itself we cant use for cams and gauges. There is still the gauge to buy bits for and potential cams that all need paying for. Cumbria canoeists have offered to pay for one which is cool, but the project is dragging due lack of technical know how to come up with a plan that will actually work within budget (an outdoor IP web cam is too much). There are solutions but they are going to take some experimentation, and more importantly, time, to sort out. Anyway thats the justification to offer you some clobber, and charge you a few quid extra for a hoodie or tee with our logo on it. prices come out pretty competitive with other companies who trade off extreme sports hype, so why not ....
I really want total editorilal freedom and openess for the site. Anyone (with no direct commercial interest) can contribute to rainchasers and it needs more contributors. if you know me, please dont feel obliged to buy one, I've not bought one yet cos im a stingy, scruffy git and have got enough to wear atm
Im hoping we can do more designs soon and offer something else by way of "off the water wear for the fashion unconscious".

Here is a clip of some Scottish action taken recently by Davey Biggen. Shows how good Scotland can be and makes me want to get up there and further explore beyond the usual classics. Probably the best UK clip Ive seen in a good long while a well worth a click.
Cant decide if this is real or faked but (I guess a hybrid of the two?) but it shows some real dedication to a livening up some some flatwater - I cant see the LDNP approving it on Windermere though!
Thanks to Lloyd and Linds who have been helping out with the Tyne levels calibration.

Levels are a respectable low, but there is rain forecast for tonight and tomorrow. the heavy stuff will hit Scotland first but appear in over all the hills in due course. Following in its wake is broken and lighter rainfall for the next few days. So its looking optimistic for the rivers. The West should get the lions share in all regions.
Nothing special predicted for the NE surf but there is decent stuff coming from the Atlantic, but Ireland is in the way for us ;-)!
Tides are high so the all races should be working and the tides flowing well.

Ben Jung, who came over for the Shap film festival to show a couple of shorts has been busy making a documentary on the damming of the White Nile. Heres the trailer, with some great shots of the river and playboating in the trailer. It's a difficult one to take on the complex issue of natural river/whitewater resource vs energy needs but all credit for taking it on and not just throwing up some 'context free' boating. Nice one Ben.
Also well worth checking out some excellent russian clips. Quality beatdowns aplenty here and (check out the the big loop!) and some excellent myth busting here with two guys firng up that classic big russian fall which is a trib of the Katun - in a duo! All this action is well off the beaten track on overnight wilderness trips. Keen.
