Sorry I missed the forecast on friday.

The last descent team in China have come up with some big water pictures to drool over - with the now sadly familiar issue of dams threatening the rivers.

A new american blog looks promising. Here is a playak technique video about flatwater cartwheels which may be worth a look if your getting despearate enough to hit the flatwater.  Seeing as its spring we better get used to looking at some Californian action. See lets start here and see if we can build up some immunity! That also means the range life is gonna crank up for the summer. Yeah.

Do you feel like some international boating yourself, dont let a simple issue like a lack of funds stop you! Try this!!! Surely this cant really rate as a worthy cause? There really are starving children in the world if you feel like helping someone out! This may be more worthwhile?

RSS feeds

You can now pick up various different RSS feeds from rainchasers. The Forecast, the blogs and the frontpage are all available separately or together. You'll need  firefox, IE vista, or a dedicated RSS reader to pick these up. I'm hoping we a can use this technology to provide more services for boaters (or help others to do the same). Please let me know if there are any technical issues.

There is a guest writer on the rainchasers blog - kris found some nice whitewater on Mull, which prompted me to note something down about the Traligill, way north at Inchnadamph. Just a reminder about the two new blogs up as well.

kayak porn/rainchasers updates

Been raiding the kayak session vaults for these ones;

This is an inventive way of wasting a day, and spicing up an ordinary looking fall. Build yourself a grinding ramp!  Now where could we stick one up and can we really be arsed! Maybe we could get irn bru to sponsor the girder?

Here is a dreamily nice film from mexico . The water quality is not to different from the kent on a summer spate when all the fruity goodness of kendal and surrounding pastures gets washes into it ;-)

We've been messing round with the site, and plan to move the entire thing to another host soon. There may be some glitches in the system as i'm pruning the back end dramatically so let us know if anything isn't working that you use. This evenings glitch is that the blog menu links seems to have developed a mind of their own and gone into 'list' mode - which makes 'em quicker at least! Top menu is behaving!

We've obviously lost the capital on rainchasers - and its not a typo so don't mail us about that! Grammatical standards will have to be upheld elsewhere, we're sliding toward the end of civilisation brought about by bad grammar headlong, and with a smile!

Linking to rainchasers
Written by ned
Saturday, 19 April 2008 02:04
Webby stuff - We've been tidying up the back end of the site a bit and taken down the URL "www.rainchasers.com/home" and also got each page to redefine its friendly URL address. This may mean its worth checking that links to the site still work properly. They all should work (apart from that 'home' one, i think). Sorry if that messes your link up but im told it will help our SEO.

2 new blogs

I'm really pleased to be able to say that we have two new blogs beginning on the site. Both have new links from the left menu and  have 'feeds' to the top menus.

rookie's blog is intended to be an account of learning the sport, you'll see from the first entry that we're starting at the beginning here, with an account of his first expereince of moving water. I think it will be great for beginners and experts alike to watch someone go through the ups and downs of learning the sport for the first time. Quite where it leads we shall see...

maud and lou's blog combines a dutch kayaker (a rare breed, and pronounced 'maut') and an old lakes hand, louis. It will follow them on their trips to foreign parts pursuing the path of making kayaking a lifestyle. Written in an endeering european accent, the first entry reflects on an impression of paddling/living in the North of England over the winter.

Im really thankful to the new contributors, and I think this will give the site some new, refreshing,  perspectives.

As ever all contributions are welcome - its a community based site and any articles submitted will be included. Particularly if they dont agree with me!
