Thanks to the efforts of Glyn, a bag of bits which was presented to him in an unguarded moment at Shap last year has morphed into something useful. Basically if we can find a spot by a river, with mobile network coverage, we can get the river level beamed up and displayed. in principal this could actually be set up to text you - the river would give you a bell when its up! We still have some techy work to do to achieve this, but its coming. So we need a location. I think the priority is to get something up the on west coast rivers (Duddon?), but all ideas are welcome. If anyone has ideas contacts etc then please get in touch (we only have one at present). I find it sometimes helps to stress the fact that it means paddlers wont be making wasted journeys (reduced traffic/carbon and damage done at low flows). ned - 'at' - rainchasers.com, and we're still after general feedback if you have a mo.
